Will was his usual unpleasant self. It is not just grief. It is Will.
And I know some people think Ed is bad bear and Will is good bear but
this is not the first time Ed has shown Will love and sympathy after
Will has been nasty. Wasn't it Ed who went along when Will ran off to
Cornwall or somewhere to either lose himself or jump over a cliff.
BICBAM. Whereas all Will did when Ed was in trouble and living rough
was sneer, wasn't it? Who was it went to give Ed a helping hand and
save him? Was it Alan?

Yes - Will went after Ed, who was living rough and hooked on drugs too I
think.

We are talking about 2 different occasions. Will went off to the SW
somewhere and Ed went to get him back, accompanied by someone. Perhaps
Eddie. Ed was down and out in Felpersham or some place and I do not
think Will was involved in getting him home. No good deeds were done
by Will. Has he ever been known to do one? Did he try and help his mum
and dad at any time when they were struggling and he was comfortably
well off?

He did let them live in his house on The Green. I can't remember whether
he charged rent though.

He rented it to them. Not the same thing.

Though I think it was Jazzer, wasn't it, who came close to dying of an
overdose? (Of ketamine, an animal tranquilizer?, I think it was.)

It was Jazzer who had the overdose in the loo at The Bull; as you say,
that was ketamine and he was left with moderately severe brain damage
which appears to have disappeared now. I have no idea how realistic
that recovery is.

Ed, on the other hand, went off the rails and, as John said, was living
rough and taking serious quantities of crack. I can't remember exactly
who was involved in talking to him and getting him back to Ambridge.

living in a slum, for some reason owning a whole street of them merely
got you invited to the very best social occasions. (Terry Pratchett)
