Wondering if there is a dept who look out for elderly entertainers and prep
tributes for as and when.

Almost certainly. I know the papers have obits drafted for elderly
celebs, politicians etc. and it seems likely that the broadcast media
would do much the same. Especially when said elderly celeb is known to
be very frail and so is likely to go sooner rather than later.
