Look here, I know lockdown requirements are being eased a little now but...
where are you all - no postings in hours!

Apparently, in Wales, we are still not allowed to travel more than 5 miles
from home except for 'compassionate reasons'. I don't know what that means.

I have been as far as Lidl again - even quieter than my last visit. I now
wonder if the regular bilingual announcements about being polite to staff
and other customers are used in Lidl stores throughout Wales and were
prompted by specific incidents of bad behaviour in the southern cities. I
think I'll stick to my late afternoon visits when most folk are eating
their tea.

Today I haven't left the house yet. With little to read here, I've been
amusing myself on Facebook.

It does seem odd.

I doubt it: I've heard them (though not bilingual!) in Kent (though I
can't remember whether they were in Lidl or Sainsburys [I've been in
both]).

Picking a time when it's not busy is a black art! (Like aerial design

And in my case working on my family tree. I've just discovered who are
the mutual ancestors of someone that Ancestry DNA said was my 6th-8th
cousin. My first confirmed DNA match, so rather exciting!

When I say a cave, it were just an 'ole in' ground really. But it were a
cave to us.

Our one-time department secretary married a Mr. Branch.

Cue endless references to her room as the Branch office ...

I didn't realise how good I am at it until the day I popped down to
Morrisons one morning because I needed an specific ingredient *now*. I was
horrified to find queues at the checkouts even though I'd never seen so
many open. I've never seen the car park full there, or at eTsco.

Ray used to laugh at my carefully timed trips - I avoided school chuck-out
time because increased traffic made it difficult to get out of our road and
could make the short trip take three times as long. He generally enjoyed
shopping with me though.

I've only been to Lidl once since lockdown, about the beginning of May,
and there were similar (non-bilingual) announcements there then.

Should we rename this thread "Lidl Anonymous"?

I'm sure I can give them up any time I choose, but they do have...
