I liked the topical and information scene about not leaving rubbish
and being polite on farm visits and the difficulty of finding pickers.
I hope th cow is ok.

Less keen on the scene with Jenefer and Chris and Amy. Chris is still
married and I don't want him to get too friendly with Amy. Alice
doesn't deserve that. I was surprised she was looking after Martha
next evening, but it is good they trust her, or would it be together
with one of her parents?

The supposed prowler better now be Rob. I'll have to stop listening
again if it is.

He had been referred to twice this evening which makes it seem likely, but
maybe they are teasing us.

I'm probably far too innocent for my own good but after all the
muttering about disposable barbecues and other litter I thought it
might be somebody looking for a spot for wild camping.

I hope so. I'm sure Lee would love to meet up with him <g>

I'm sure somerat will correct me if I'm mis-remember things but when
Rob fled, wasn't he a "person of interest" to the police? If yes, add
them to the list who want to meet up with him.

Aargh - "meet up with"?

But yes: IIRR the last time Rob was seen was when he tried to snatch
Henry, and I _think_ at least some of those present _did_ report the
incident (though I don't remember to whom), so I think they'd want to
"talk to" him about that at least. I don't remember if there was
anything _else_ they might want to talk to him about. (I can't even
remember what he nominally did for a living.)

It wasn't the omission of the "of those" that rang my bell (-:.

As I once read it, "Outside of America, we just meet people." (The "of"
being ironic.)

Though here, I am aware you weren't just using "meet up with" as a
synonym for "meet", so my bell is probably oversensitive (-:.

Yes, I did realise that <g> "Talk to him" works better for the Police
whereas Lee meeting up with him for a quiet talk about how he treated
Helen sounds more ominous, to me at least.

Waiting for an overdue order (for an item made in, I think, Taiwan) from
a distributor in the USA, I e-mailed for an update. The response
informed me that the person e-mailing me had "reached out" to the
supplier. I tried - and failed - to imagine any English person using
"reached out" in that context.

Ah now, I understand that because…
The Police are trained-up so that they can drive to the person’s abode and
park-up then they meet-up with the individual so that they can fess-up.

Yes, his snatching Henry was reported to the police, although the family
managed to intercept him and retrieve Henry before the police arrived.
IIRC, I think he was under an injunction to stay away from Helen and
Henry, which would add to the severity of the offence.

I don't think that he had a job, by that time, having lost his job at
Berrow.

No he was trying to borrow Gideon. He refused to let the brother come

Apologies I can see everyone else has already piled in. I went to that
there London yesterday and it did me head in - the Mayor of London's
hatred of the car has gone beyond all reasonable standards and the
resultant jams and pollution must be doing serious damage to the health
of his population.

It's not just the Labour Mayor of London. Cornwall Council
(Conservative) share his viewpoint. A growing number of towns and our
one city are becoming, or have become pedestrian and cyclist friendly,
for which read car hostile. It seems to be a process which has been
going on for some time. Bodmin is virtually closed to the motorist.
Several tributary roads around Truro, labelled by the council "rat-
runs" have just been closed to non- resident motor vehicles, so that
pedestrians and cyclists can use them in safety. This has had the
unfortunate but entirely foreseeable effect of greatly increasing
congestion on the main roads. Not good for staff trying to get to work
at our only major hospital. I like a good rant, me.

resultant jams and pollution must be doing serious damage to the health
of his population.
Steve
Car hostile is also bad for people who can't walk very far.

But yes: IIRR the last time Rob was seen was when he tried to snatch
Henry, and I _think_ at least some of those present _did_ report the
incident (though I don't remember to whom), so I think they'd want
to "talk to" him about that at least. I don't remember if there was
anything _else_ they might want to talk to him about. (I can't even
remember what he nominally did for a living.)
Yes, his snatching Henry was reported to the police, although the
family managed to intercept him and retrieve Henry before the police
arrived. IIRC, I think he was under an injunction to stay away from
Helen and Henry, which would add to the severity of the offence.
I don't think that he had a job, by that time, having lost his job at
Berrow.
I may be wrong, and several of you seem to disagree with me, but
wasn't it Jack that was going to be snatched?
No he was trying to borrow Gideon.  He refused to let the brother come
and made it clear he only had one son really.
Apologies I can see everyone else has already piled in. I went to that
there London yesterday and it did me head in - the Mayor of London's
hatred of the car has gone beyond all reasonable standards and the
resultant jams and pollution must be doing serious damage to the health
of his population.
But wot about the congestion charge? Hasn’t that scared everyone off?

Sincerely Chris

Not judging by yesterday. Much of my journey was outside the current
zone (Rishi is making it larger later this year) but I had to enter it -
the trouble was that most of the turnings that the sat nav wanted me to
use are no longer available so I spent much longer in the jam than
needed and travelled much further than needed before I could reach my
destination (I was moving "stuff" from one office to another office).
And I was forced to creep through Ealing and other areas as all the main
roads are limited to 20 mph for no apparent reason - main A roads.

I agree, driving through is a nightmare. Daughter lives in Dulwich and
I am in Watford and only visit at weekends, leaving first thing in the
morning and driving through the city when it is quiet, but going home
the satnav, which hates me, always tried to take me via Hyde Park
Corner and Edgware Rd and meeting them at the Barnes bird centre it
tries to go over Hammersmith Bridge, which has been closed for at
least 2 years, and refuses to re-route. I can go there ok, via the N
Circular but back is awful.

That is one of my arguments against built-in satnavs.
I wish all cars were fitted for - but not with[1] - gadgets like satnav
& dashcams.

There's no need to shout ;) As I said to Carole, mea culpa, I was wrong
and yes, of course it was Jack that Rob wanted.

Mea culpa too, I started the snatch-Henry error.

Of course, Rob didn't call him either Henry or Jack anyway, but
something (IIRR) Biblical, like (but I don't think it was) Obadiah.

The supposed prowler better now be Rob. I'll have to stop listening

I hope so. I'm sure Lee would love to meet up with him <g>
I'm sure somerat will correct me if I'm mis-remember things but when
Rob fled, wasn't he a "person of interest" to the police? If yes, add
them to the list who want to meet up with him.
Aargh - "meet up with"?

ISTR that he told Henry he wasn't his son and couldn't come, in a nasty and

Less keen on the scene with Jenefer and Chris and Amy. Chris is still
married and I don't want him to get too friendly with Amy. Alice
doesn't deserve that. I was surprised she was looking after Martha
next evening, but it is good they trust her, or would it be together
with one of her parents?
The supposed prowler better now be Rob. I'll have to stop listening
again if it is.
I don't think it's him. My best guess is that it's someone to do with
Lee's past, given how they were extolling his virtues and how much he
means to the family yesterday.

The other suggestion I've seen which seems possible is that it's one of
the horses, looking for Philip or Gavin.

I liked the topical and information scene about not leaving rubbish
and being polite on farm visits and the difficulty of finding pickers.

Why not? Does he have to live like a monk? No, I'm not suggesting he
goes looking for sex, but I don't see why he can't go out for a drink
with a friend, as long as Martha is being looked after OK.

(Also, there's gender inequality: if it was a chap inviting him out, I
think there'd be more praise for someone trying to help him "get out of
himself" or similar.)

On TA this kind of scene, and it is I think the third with Amy and
Chris, signals some change in relationship to too close. Even if
innocent Alice will be vulnerable and open to the wrong conclusion.

Maybe she is being set up to fail yet again.
