Spoilers:
Sunday 24th - Jakob finds himself on the spot, and some new arrivals
cause chaos in Ambridge.
Monday 25th - Jazzer attempts to help, and the collective nightmare
continues.
Tuesday 26th - It’s action stations for Ruth, while the Grundys spot an
opportunity.
Wednesday 27th - Jim is forced to eat humble pie, and there’s a blast
from the past for Eddie.
Thursday 28th - Will Kate save the day, and Clarrie is left mortified.
Friday 29th - One couple makes a decision, while another takes stock
after an unexpected week

------------------

In the online RT, Sunday's episode gives a review, by David Crawford, as
well as the standard one-line summary. I see that the review is the same
as the Ambridge Diary in this week's printed RT. It says:

Fraud comes to Ambridge as the BBC’s Scam Safe initiative seeps into the
storylines. Two unexpected visitors puzzle Jakob (Paul Venables) and a
week of strange encounters sets the local community on a mission.

There’s a blast from the past for Eddie, and an opportunity to make a
mint—but as Clarrie tries to keep him on track with the turkeys, someone
could fall foul of a con trick.

The BBC News site had an article about scammers advertising see-through
domes for watching the meteors and the aurora. Pehaps one of the
Brookfield fields has been resnted out by George, Ruth says no, and Eddy
thinks the idea is brilliant and rents his dutch barn.

Sadly I have a PC which has something wrong with it and I have had to
restore twice to last Sunday's backup. Microsoft were worse than
useless - I am quite convinced that an intelligent expert would know how
to fix it but the support merely consists of running a repair Windows -
which sticks at downloading at 46% of the updates needed (all of which
are installed) and an idiot who thinks that is normal.

After two hours of tosh I restored from the backup and I have just had
to do it again. That backup is not being deleted for a while.

And why is TA anything to do with scams? The villagers have all met
Eddie and Joe before.

A public service. Very badly done.

Is that Windows 11? I don't have one but I've been reading in The
Register recently about Win 11 updates that have broken machines. IIRC
the advice - akin to switching it off then on again - is to boot it up
in safe mode and let it download the corrected updates. BICBW

Nick
It is a Win 11 machine although I tend not to run updates too early so I
do not think it is the prime cause. Over the weekend we had a couple of
momentary power cuts and it would have been recovering from the first
one when we had a second and possibly a third as the local network had a
major outage in the next town. It then went into the sulk as during the
week - so I recovered from last weekend's backup a second time. Which
is nerve wracking if nothing else.

Since then I have rebooted it once and all was well and during the
period I have not seen it implementing any updates.

Mrs McT
Emma Fielding has been around the block a few times. I remember her
being Mrs Coulter in the Radio 4 adaptation of His Dark Materials, ooh
gosh, more than 20 years ago.
