My daughter posted my Mothering Sunday (1) card, correctly addressed and
with a 1st Class stamp, early afternoon Thursday in a postbox outside
her local sorting office, as witnessed by the postmark which includes
"Royal Mail, Lancashire and South Lakes, 27/08/2025, 15:55:56. It came
though my letter box about 12 noon to-day.

Oh, yes! I also want to mention that the postmark included the words
"Remember Mother's Day 30 March 2025."

I say again HARRUMPH!

(1) My mother had a dicky fit if anyone said "Mother's Day" rather than
"Mothering Sunday."

That's remarkably quick.

If it had been posted here at that time it would have missed the
Thursday collection. So to be collected same day, and sorted is excellent.
Delivered to your PO depot presumably sometime on Friday but too late
for the Friday delivery. I don't think we have a Saturday delivery any
more. YMMV

(This is all just theoretical loblocks because the Post Office does
whatever it wants, regardless.)

The plan to drop 2nd Class Saturday deliveries hasn't been implemented
yet but shouldn't affect 1st Class deliveries anyway. There's no plan
to drop Saturday deliveries for 1st Class mail as far as I know.

I know Royal Mail are still delivering on Saturdays because my last
wodge of a fortnight's-worth of post was stuffed through my letterbox
on a Saturday about two weeks ago. Two weeks ago? Oh good! that means
I must be due another wodge sometime soon!

...and the wodge arrived yesterday, 8th April. Not a lot of mail in it
and of course nobody puts franking marks on business post anymore but
if the general understanding that second class post ought to be
delivered a day later than first class which ought to be delivered
next working day, then at least one item was five days overdue and
another one was probably eleven days late.

...harrumph indeed.

I don't know when any birthday cards to me were posted (though I do know
that one certainly has been, YKWYA!) but so far I have received none and
my birthday was on Friday 28th.
