LOL! I've never notice that spoonerism possibility before!

I found the last four minutes or so of tonight's, decidedly cringeworthy
- and the _repetition_ of the suitcase mixup (or chance thereof) rather
lazy. (I thought, will they - surely not? But they did. Repeat the
suggestion, I mean, not actually mix up.)

The whole episode was 'oh how we laughed' not.I wish they
wouldn't.And people post on twitter and fb saying how happy they are
Kerri is writing this week. Or did last week.

But it was Nick Warburton, rather than Keri, this week :( An excellent
example of just how dire TA is, all too often, when they try to have a
comic interlude.

Yes I checked after posting that, so Kerri is not the worst

Whilst on the subject of TA scriptwriters, may I mention Katie Hims?
I've just listened, for the first time, to Waterloo Station and I
think it's really, really good. Still available to listen to here...

Can Carole (or anyone else) please tell us of recent NW weeks as I have
a feeling he always tries to humour himself and makes a complete mess of it.

19th Apr 24,
Completely nonsensical writing treating Brad as a village idiot. An
individual with the traits he has previously remarked simply would not
confuse luggage. He would be meticulous about such matters

23rd Feb 24,

Completely nonsensical writing treating Tony as the village idiot over
the tanning of the cow hides and David and Vince allegedly cooperating
over installing lights in the car park at the Bull both spouting
absolute rubbish over tools. Also utter nonsense from Ed and Em before
seeing the bank manager without Will.

22nd Dec 23,
Completely nonsensical writing treating Freddie as the village idiot at
the abattoir in front of David when the staff had switched the meat
around. The staff simply would not do that - even as an Elf and Safety
joke because they are disciplined.

3rd Nov 23,
Completely nonsensical writing about Blossom Hill Cottage which we know
is utterly tiny and yet hosted a huge party for Brian's 80th and the
follow on during the week centred around Ruari (who was never heard) and
how Paul fancied him - a story which has never progressed since. As
well as the fascinating Natalia turning up from the cookery course.

I could go on but this particular writer (who can write good radio) has
no feeling for the individuals, their character traits or Ambridge.

I thought that he did not contribute decent scripts and now I am convinced.

While I agree with all this, I should note that it doesn’t mean that
Freddie *isn’t* an idiot. He clearly is.

I tend to accept that he inherited Niggle's gene with that problem - but
the script made it worse than it needed to be.

I think we/they (I'm on TwitterX, not book) are a little more forgiving
of Keri because at least he tweets, so we identify with him a little
more, that's all.

Were the suitcases all tartan?

I'm firmly of the belief that that joke reached its apotheosis
fifty-two years ago (at the time of writing).

Funnily enough we were talking about that movie only this morning
(well, Friday morning to us as I think it's now already Saturday in
the UK) and looking for but failing to find the laundry chute scene.

Reason? The young'uns who've moved from Buenos Aires to Denver are now
living in a house with..

...a laundry chute and a very small boy.

Watch this space!

What a load of old ……. My hearing impairment, being an old codger, means
that Lily’s voice was almost unhearable for most of that.

She’s just a rich spoiled brat showing off in front of a hapless ‘orobin
who’s out of his depth in those places.

It was awful. Not funny. The Fallon/Harrison bits were bad too.
