I never really wanted children - partly because I never met anyone I
wanted to have babies with who also wanted to have babies with me. And I
had a niche but successful international career which I could not have
had if I'd had children. I don't feel the lack now at all - I have three
nieces, a nephew, and five godchildren, most of whom are busy having
babies of their own now, which is absolutely lovely, and they all love
their doting great-aunt. Fallon would make a terrific auntie. But I fear
Harrison will either guilt-trip her into having children or will leave
her, like Erik in the Guardian story above.

I never really wanted children -
Whereas I would have happily had a dozen - but having tried it both ways
I would have wanted to stick to C-section births!

Ah, when I said I liked having babies, I don't mean the births.

Ah, when I said I liked having babies, I don't mean the births.
There's a lot to be said for the old-fashioned, traditional approach
where a stork collects the baby from the clouds and leaves it
underneath a gooseberry bush.

That said, there appear to be rather too many gooseberry bushes in and
around Newham, east London.

Do you think so? I was thinking things are rather slack compared to the
good old days.

Yes.

Getting ratarsed in the pub attached to the Famous City Varieties whose
name I can't recall but whose rococo decor is unforgettable.

[time passes]

Oh right, it's come back to me. Whitelocks. I wonder if it still
exists. Any loinerrats able to advise? Do we have any loinerrats?

It's a strange thing but when I was young I thought TGOD was cultural
cringe, like Songs of Praise and the Black & White Minstrels, but now
that I have studied quite a bit about the old music halls I think I'd
rather enjoy it.
