But just who was Faith friends with that she wanted to return to Ambridge
so much? Why didn’t she ask Eddie if he knew of her or the family’s
whereabouts? Why didn’t Krait say she’d take her to meet Jill? Come to
think of it, I can’t remember Krait ever speaking to Jill.

I actually thought we’d had a storyline on those lines before but I think
it must have been a drama some years ago.

ISTM that the message to take away from this week's episodes is that
being scammed is a good way to get cheap couples therapy, exciting
holidays, new friends and a cheap Thanksgiving dinner, Was this really
what the BBC intended?

Your comments illustrate very clearly why the editor should have told
senior management not to interfere.

Never having watched a tv soap, for all I know it’s s typical weekly ‘must

Yes, I'm sure the brief will have been to make scams seem like a bad
thing, rather than the sounding like the best thing that could have
happened to any of them!

Feedback <https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0025l2j> looked at The
Archers Scam Week in some detail and hardly any correspondents to the
Feedback programme were impressed with what had just taken place.
To save umrats having to listen to the entire Feedback programme in
order to discover the BBC Archers Team's response to the criticisms,
I've marked the exact point in the programme where this occurs below.

Wasn't there a retired American serviceman who had met (Peggy???) during
the war and came back in the hopes of rekindling a romance?

Con I believe was his name which seems appropriate.

Yes, Conn, after Kate and Helen found Peggy's stash of love letters and
wrote to him, claiming to be Peggy. This lured him back, thinking Peggy
would be open to the idea of rekindling their romance.

Yes there was. But this was Faith. And a very sulky Chuck.

But I do wonder if the other lady who Ruth took to show her the coos, and
let her help with the milking (which she had a knack for) might not find
her way back as we already have hints as to how it could begin. I’m with
Clarrie on this. She and Eddee don’t have the dosh for air fares.

In another place, Brenda Selwyn, late of this parish, tells us that:

Faith said that as a child, she had a friend at Ambridge Farm. The
tenants there in the late 1950s were Ken & Mary Pound. The Pounds had a
daughter, Marilyn, who, like Faith & Eddie, was born in 1951. Lovely bit
of historical research. I wonder if a name check was cut for time.

I would certainly have expected Kate to ask her if she had known her
mother and, given she proved to be the same age as Eddie, she'd also
have been of an age with Tony and in the same class at school. It could
also have been fun if she'd commented on remembering seeing David when
he was in his pram! She will certainly have met Jill, while she was
staying in the barn but she did comment that the Brookfield Archers had
been very much a cut above her family, so she probably didn't know them,
other than by sight and to say hallo to in passing.

Well done that Brenda. I’d forgotten all of that. I’m not sure I remember
much of the Pounds. I am only a mid-1980s listener.
