Thank you. Scouring the radio listings last night to pick out
programmes to save and listen to later, I completely missed that.

Both Richard and, separately, Linda Thompson have recently released
new albums so I suppose the timing of the programme episode has
something to do with that. This has also been a PSA.

Proxy Music arrived yesterday and has joined the pile of items awaiting
listening that teeters on top of one of the mountains to be read which
fill a large part of my desk.

I thought Richard and Linda couldn't stand each other? Or have they
kissed and made up in their old age?

I am not sure about kissing - but they have not been unfriendly for many

I haven't bought either album yet but I believe that Richard appears
on Linda's Proxy Music but Linda doesn't appear on Ship to Shore.

I think both have 'appeared' on their offspring's recordings.

I notice that hitting the convenient "Download" button on the

Interesting. get_iplayer (other software may well be available) has
downloaded nearly 90 minutes according to the file description so
hopefully I have the full fat version.

I no longer have a convenient ROT-13 button on my email (alas poor

happens a lot with R3 programmes and must have something to do with
copyright issues, especially where live performance is concerned.

I see that Brittski has decoded for you. I don't have ROT13 either -
obviously a shortcoming of Thunderbird - but a quick G**gle (oseaa)
produced this, which you, I, and others may find useful in future.

What do they say about good intentions? I wanted to avoid using the
name of that download tool[1] but by doing so, it's ended up appearing
here at least three times.

For anyone whose newsreader doesn't support ROT-13 it's always
possible to cut and paste in and out of https://rot13.com and
remember: ROT twice for additional security of encryption.

I use a tool developed, I assume at least from its name, for use on
YouTube, though it works on virtually any page with a video on it; email
me (before the end of Wednesday!) for the name (though it's pretty
well-known). I've certainly found it works fine on iPlayer; I don't
_think_ I've tried it on Sounds (i. e. where there is no video
involved), though I suspect it would work there too. OK, it's
command-line, but before that sends some people screaming into the woods
- I can (with about ten keystrokes, probably less) have it downloading
before you'd opened anything else. (I've renamed it from xx-xxx.exe to
just y.exe, which saves typing.)

Look John, when I made those remarks a few days ago I was only larking
about in dubious taste and I never expected you to respond by, as it
were, spilling the beans. I apologise if my words or your reply have
caused you embarrassment.

And here I go again: whilst you have to hope for the best whilst
preparing for the worst, I honestly don't think you are going to be
able to use His Majesty's Pleasure as an excuse for dropping contact
with umra. In my completely lay opinion and partly because our prisons
are stuffed to the gills already, I think your judge is more likely to
give you a suspended sentence - which these days doesn't mean dangling
from the end of a rope - or give you something interesting to do which
may involve a hi-viz vest and a gardener's hoe or a bricklayer's
trowel. I know it's very bad taste for me to bring the subject up like
this but I also think it would be very bad taste on the part of the
judicial system for me to be proved wrong by them - but if I am proved
wrong, do think you might smuggle out a note to umra to sponsor a BTN
for me?
