I wonder how long it will be before Peggy follows suit.

If she dies soon Kirsty, Rex and Lilian can play the sympathy card with

Haven't listened to last night yet, but presumably the Christmas Carol
reworking has reached its conclusion for Juscroogein ?

I was suspicious of Justin's turn around.I think Kirsty and Rex
shouldn't sign until their solicitor checks the paperwork and should
count their fingers too and check future planning plans.

Also think Fallon should not sign and should see if she is obliged to
take a unit or can refuse. She should get the contract checked and
future plans too.

Absolutely. If you make an offer on a particular unit all the paperwork
should be "subject to contract" and you can pull out until it is signed.
They show every sign of being unreliable landlords and I wonder if it
is time for Wayne / Jolene / Kenton to retire? Kenton is 66 after all;
I assume Jolene and Wayne are younger? Can Fallon and Harrison find the
money to buy out Lilian do you think and become 50% partners with Kenton
& Jolene?

I'm baffled why the scriptwriters wouldn't already have written her out, given
that her death has been in the category of "imminent" for the last two
decades.

Ditto Jill. Christine Barford. I'm sure there are others.

Jill still speaks. Christine I assume that they have agreed with her
best friend that she resides quietly in the Laurels (as with Peggy)
until she is no longer with us.

Nah, she's gonna be taken down by the SPG as ringleader of the

I get the feeling that, more often than not, they prefer to keep the
character alive, albeit either silent or, like Jill, only heard
occasionally, until after the actor's death, as a mark of respect to
them. I assume that, in Jenny's case, she was happy for Jenny to be
killed off once she chose to retire.

Yup still alive: but I have idea who the bloke is she’s married to,

‘Piper is married to Peter Bolgar, a former announcer at the BBC. The
couple live on the Suffolk border and have three children’

Some time I suspect.  I would not be surprised at there being a plan in
place but fitting it into the existing script plans in the next 12 weeks
might be hard.  I believe that recordings are about 4-6 weeks prior to
transmission and scripts are "completed" about 10-12 weeks prior to
recordings to allow a bit of editing and change if actors are not
available.
Yes, I'm not expecting Peggy to die imminently, there's no reason for
them to rejig, or rerecord the scripts which have already been written,
or recorded. My guess is that she'll die sometime in the first half of
next year.
Going back a couple of years I can remember some scripts which felt that
they had been rejigged when they found that "Jennifer" was not available
as expected.
I don't remember that but I do remember that, the morning after Mary
Wimbush collapsed and died, at the end of a recording session, Julia
Pargetter was found dead in her bed. She had been meant to be in the
thick of Archers life over the month or two following Mary's death, as
she was heavily involved in the Christmas panto - IIRC, she was
producing it. This meant that Ambridge, as well as the SWs , had to
rush round to reorganise it.

Normally though, they allow a good few months, at least, between the
death of an actor and taking any definitive action about the character.
Does anyone know if Angela Piper is still with us?
So far as I know she is. I assume that we would have heard if she had
died.
