I’ve just finished reading a book Christine McMillan told me about,
Home Fires in Ambridge, about the second WW there. It has a young
Peggy working in London and getting letters from Jack, who is away in
the army. Dan and Dorris are worried about the farm and whether they
can afford to keep it. Joe Grundy is kind to some evacuee children,
giving them a little Christmas tree.If anyone would like the book let
me know and I can post it to you.

Did you enjoy it?

That's a lovely offer, Vicky, only I'm going to count myself out of
this potential bidding war because I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't
yet started to read the last book that was so generously sent to me by
an umrat. And that was <ahem> rather a long time ago.

Not enjoy exactly. The book jumped about a it, as some do. Some was in
the form of minutes from meetings. I Liked seeing the younger versions
of charecters. Peggy had her sights set on going up in the world, not
marrying Jack. I liked Dan and Dorris, and dont remember them from
programmes.

Actually I don't treat books well, I should warn people.
