two and a half hours of Carole Boyd yesterday over on Radio 4x?

Considerably more than that if you count the repeats.

She was playing Gladys in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost
World which was followed by Guy Meredith's Craft where she

drinking too much.

I'm sure there used to be urban folklore which insisted that you became
drunk much faster if you used a straw.

There still is - and it's still a miff.

I've seen comments TTEO straw drinkers are more prone to quaff their
drinks faster than sippers and the quicker descent into drunkeness is
a factor of how much more alcohol has been downed how much more
quickly.
