I found Monday's episode really depressing. Introducing Helen as the
accidental meeting just highlighted (highlit?) the fact that we are
listening to yet another coercive control relationship with Rochelle and
Saskia. I really don't need to be depressed any more, but of course
will carry on listening, as I always have.

Sadly it seems to be heading that way. Rochelle's parents abandoned her
- her father physically, her mother mentally. I think Joy was right to
tell Rex some months ago that she was vulnerable - because she cannot
think her way out of a paper bag.

Compare and contrast with Neil for a moment. His disposition said that
he was abandoned but that he was lucky to be looked after and has
largely determined he should build a strong family life, partly to my
mind as an antidote to his own lack of biological family (although his
unnatural parents obviously did a good job).

Rochelle has however decided that is not the way to go and yet managed
to be a mother (at least for some years) and have two children - but
cannot retain that as her strength and instead has fallen in with a
group (or perhaps she was with them before the family and returned to
them when the family did not save her) where Saskia admits they do not
trust her and she still considers them more important than building a
relationship with her mother and Rex (those might not work out but no
she would rather be in league with people who do not trust her).

I suspect the writers are working on a salvation story but we shall see.

Oh, that would offer a glimmer of hope in a gloomy story. In which
case, I suspect Freddie to the rescue, aided by others.

It's really depressing, both the storylines and the quality of the
writing. Even the actors sound sick of it - the way Emma spoke one of
her lines last week was like something out of Linda's panto.

The only consolation is that it will be over very quickly like the
ridiculous water story that was resolved in just a few days. Maybe Pat
and Emma should be fast-tracked into Gov't.

My guess is that Rochelle will reveal to Saskia the impending visit of
the Academy and that will become the date on which the activists (who
deserve the recent ire of Martyn Gibson as "small minded citizen
activists targetting businesses for their woke ideals") decide to
infiltrate murder row.

Very accurate Kosmo, but sadly not very difficult to predict.

Another comment embedded re the appalling scripts - the penultimate line
was FFS, but Hellon deliviered it as FFS (spolire averted)

A chip butty is preferred here, not sure I have ever had a FFS.

Funnily enough I had one only last week in a pub on the beach at Seaton
in Cornwal. A rare but pleasant experience.

I wanted a pasty, but they didn't have any meat ones, so I rectified
that the next day when we stopped at https://www.woodlandspark.com/
in Totnes on the way back. 4 AGCs absolutely loved it and slept well on
the way back. Much too hilly for me so I sat in the cafe and then had a
snooze in the car. Norty Dorter enjoyed some of the rides too and the
setting and said her chicken skewer was nice and kids adored their
(real) chicken strips and chips. Pasty excellent and all not too
expensive considering we were a captive audience.

On the way back they all slept for a couple of hours and then we
listened to Harry Potter and TPS. I've read and enjoyed all the books
but never listened to Stephen Fry reading them but he's very good and
the stories are still funny and exciting, despite what they are saying
about them and JKR over on UK.Legal and UNNM :)

I have to thank a weekend in Bruges for making we aware of Harry. We
were driving back at about the time book 2 was published and JKR was
being interviewed on "The Book Programme" or similar and we heard the
interview and wondered if our daughter Stephanie would like it.

We found tapes of Book 1 and boy was she hooked! At that point the UK
was publishing the tapes of Book 1 at about the time the physical book 2
was published. We went to the USA for a holiday at the time I think
book 4 was published and needed the book for the older girls - and they
had the CDs for book 4. So we asked if they had CDs of book 3 as we had
not yet been able to give that to Steph. They searched the back room
and found a copy. So she was listening to book 3 and the girls were
reading book 4 and then once she finished 3 she was able to catch up!

Book 5 I remember arrived physically and Jackie was reading chapters to
Stephanie out loud until the CDs arrived from Amazon US. Finally the
book 7 CDs and book were published in the UK at the same time.

Many was the car drive with a different part of the books being played.
