As ever I had hoped that the cast list with the Omnibus might make good
the omission but obviously it is just too difficult to tell us who did it.

13 years between appearances - if the same best friend - is that a new
record for TA (Dennis Tanner I believe holds the soap record and the now
late Ian Chesterton surpassed that in Dr Who).

ICBA to type this myself, so found one that somebody else had:

A Yorkshire man's beloved wife passed away.

He went to the headstone maker to sort out the stone for her
grave. Being a devout man, he decided the inscription should read
'She was thine'. The stonemason told him to return a week later.
A week later the man returns to inspect the stone. The proud
stonemason wheeled it out in a trolley. It looked fabulous,
except the inscription read 'She was thin'. "It's missing an
'e'," he exclaimed. The slightly embarrassed mason apologised
profusely and asked him to return a week later and he would fix
it. A week later, the Yorkshire man headed back to inspect the
finished stone. The mason wheeled it out again. The poor widower
inspected the stone. It said...

'E she was thin'.

The Archers website states that it is Alex Jones but I have no idea if
the voice is the same as the one from his previous appearances - anyone
able to confirm or deny please?
The cast list, from his last appearance, in 2011, listed him as Alex
Jones but I can't be certain that it was Alex Jones we heard this week.

The BBC Website currently lists Alex Jones as playing Clive. (It took
me a while to find the right Alex Jones since Google insisted on
feeding loads of stuff to me about the bankrupt Sandy Hook
conspiracy-theorist first.) Just to play the conspiracy theorist
myself for a moment: could it be that the BBC is making tentative
steps towards automation and for very occasional parts such as Clive
there isn't an actor at all, just something generated by an LLM?

The hint was in the description for the day with reference to a surprise
visitor or similar - they did not want to give the game away.

My view is that is fair enough in advance but on items posted after the
Friday transmission and Saturday repeat the cast list should be in full
to ensure the actor receives the appropriate credit - so the listing
that accompanies the Omnibus has no need to hide the identity. It would
mean work for someone and I assume it is far too automated for that to
happen.
